Ash and Oak (names verified by owner) are two orange cats that live in an orange house. Their owner told me their names but I can't tell them apart. One is friendly and one is less friendly. In fact, I used to think only one cat lived there, and that that cat was just temperamental and unpredictable. Turns out, two identical cats live there, with a third orange cat living somewhere in the area and sometimes coming to visit! I know this because I have been at that house when all three were out and about. In the top right photo, you can see Ash and Oak on the deck (one at the top of the stairs and one sitting on the couch behind the banisters--look closely!) staring at the visitor orange cat.
These cats are SO FLUFFY!!! Their fluffy pants are ridiculous. You can often find them sitting on chairs on their porch, in which case you must stand at the bottom of the stairs to their house and coax them to come visit you. When both of them are out there, usually at least one (the friendlier one) will come down to say hello. Sometimes one or both of them only come part way down the stairs so that you can gaze at their beauty but cannot touch it. They usually meow at you when they pull this, it's very funny. When one of them does come all the way down to the sidewalk, get ready for some roly poly time. This guy loves to roll and flip around on the sidewalk. One (both?) of them--if you catch them in the right moment--will let you put their fluffy belly like it's nobody's business. If you thought you knew soft and fluffy think again. It is truly a glorious moment when Ash/Oak let's you pet their tummy. I've spent 20-30 minutes at a time petting these kitties. Ash and Oak are neighbors with Ace and live nearby China and Simba.
